The Medicine Is in the Story is a live keynote and experiential gathering that weaves storytelling, cultural history, and gentle medicine to help communities rediscover energetics-first self-care.

I have been invited to speak and teach in a wide range of settings, including botanic gardens, cultural institutions, conferences, and community spaces across the United States. Each gathering is shaped with care for the place, the people, and the purpose of the host community.

About Dr. Martha

 

I am an award-winning historian, nurse-psychotherapist, Herbal Diplomat®, improvisational poet and author of 11 books. My life’s work has focused on promoting greater access to healthcare starting with precision Self-care and the restoration of knowledge of the healing arts East and West that helps people live with greater balance in body and peace of mind.

 

Drawing from cultural history, traditional healing systems, and decades of clinical and scholarly work, I serve as a guide and witness — helping communities remember what they already know, and trust what they already carry.

Communities interested in hosting a live gathering are warmly invited to reach out to explore alignment and availability. I schedule a limited number of in-person engagements each year, allowing me to offer this work with greatest precision and care.

 

Most communities invite me for a keynote and / or endnote and a half-day experiential retreat. For groups who want to go further, I also offer extended retreats by invitation.
